Case details:
Probable scenario: Cheating husband in Indonesia (Western man and Indonesian woman).
Client: 45-year-old female, USA – Living in America.
Target: 49-year-old American husband on business trips to Indonesia.

Case log: (all names changed to protect privacy)
The client asked us to investigate her 49-year-old husband who she suspected was having an affair with an Indonesian woman and possibly taking care of her and her two children.

Suspicions: Her husband always turned his phone turned off. She heard another woman’s voice in the background. There were suspicious phone bills at home. She also heard loud music in the background when her husband was supposed to be at dinner with a friend in Jakarta. He flew to Bali often for what he said were business trips.

Investigation:
I used the “rich Bule in town” approach to make contact with this woman. I met her at a place called CJ’s. It was clear straight away she was on the game. I first called her mobile number (by mistake, of course) and quickly hung up. She called right back and asked who I was. I said I was Michael. She said, “Oh, I remember you”. Huh? That was a real shocker seeing I had never met this woman before, but okay, I played along. Indonesian bar girls have a hard time remembering all the men they’ve met over the years. Anyway, we met at the place she suggested.

Anything for money

When I met her, she knew she did not know me and said so, but still, she tried to put it on me immediately. She asked me into the bar, and she even bought ME a drink. I talked to her for a while to see if I could get any info on the husband. Then I told her I had to meet a friend and made my exit. I made it clear I was interested in her (supposedly) and wanted to see her later. She called me regularly for the next two days trying to get me to meet her at the bar. I found afterwards she worked there.

All the while, I knew the client’s husband was going to arrive in Jakarta the next afternoon. He came the next day, and this woman was at the airport waiting for him. They met each other with a big hug and kiss. After he arrived, she never called again, and when I tried to call her, she did not pick up the phone. He was going to be there for ten days. One night at about 8:00 PM, I called her mobile. She answered it and said, “Husband come now”. I told her that it was okay and asked about his nationality. She said he was from America. Of course, I already knew this.

I then said I was from America too, and she asked me if I wanted to talk to him, which was perfect. We talked for about ten minutes on the phone, and he invited me to join them for dinner. You can’t get any luckier than this when doing a case. When I arrived for dinner, they were at a fancy seafood restaurant enjoying a huge meal and a pricey bottle of wine. He told me his whole life story (except that he was married to his American wife). However, he did tell me that he was married to “Kadek”, this Indonesian woman.

This man was leading a double life. He already bought her a house, and purchased land for her parents, while also taking care of her two children. He pays for everything. When in Indonesia, he lives with her and her kids in the house he bought for them. They were married for three years according to him. I asked him if he had a wife back home too. He said he did not. It was not to difficult to get the information out of him, and he offered it right up, just talking about himself and his life.

Meanwhile, my digital voice recorder was picking up all of the evidence. I had a partner take several photos of them from outside the restaurant. The evidence was clear and complete, and the voice conversation said it all. Another cheating husband investigation complete. Case closed.
